Calling all members... ATD National wants to talk with our chapter! ATD recently rolled out an updated capability model that illustrates what talent development practitioners need to KNOW and DO to develop themselves, others and their organizations.

Hear from ATD's Director of Credentialing, Morgean Hirt, about how this game-changing model helps prepare TD professionals for the trends we can’t yet see and the future we cannot predict. Explore the new interactive Capability Model, which can help you harness change for your organization.

    • Understand the components of the new model - Discover the knowledge and skills that will empower the growth and development of talent development professionals.
    • Apply the interactive tools to identify areas of growth for yourself or your whole team - Assess skill strengths and gaps for development resources to build a plan to close gaps
    • Compare skill strengths and gaps of the Greater Atlanta area TD professionals to those around the world.

Greater Atlanta ATD wants you to take the self assessment before this session. Take it to measure your skills and knowledge in personal, organizational, and professional capabilities.

Today, more than ever, there is a need to ensure that virtual learning works to improve organizational outcomes. Because of the surge in work-at-home arrangements and travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 crisis, most learning has shifted to virtual learning. This requires program owners to design virtual learning with desired outcomes in mind and demonstrate that the virtual format works.

Studies show that virtual learning often breaks down when measured at the application level (using what was learned) and impact level (the business impact connected to learning). However, this breakdown can be avoided. To secure the support and funding that virtual learning needs, it must deliver business results.

Session 1: This session explains how designers, developers, providers, and program owners can ensure that technology-based learning will deliver desired results by applying design thinking principles that focus on delivering application and impact with virtual learning. An ROI study will be highlighted that shows how virtual learning can deliver business value in terms that executives, sponsors, and funders appreciate and understand.

After attending this session, participants should be able to:

    1. Identify the five levels of outcomes from virtual learning.
    2. Describe why virtual learning fails to deliver application and impact.
    3. Explain the need to deliver impact and ROI for selected virtual learning programs.
    4. Design virtual learning to deliver application, impact, and ROI, using design-thinking principles.
    5. Plan next steps to ensure virtual learning delivers business value.

Session 2: This session will provide participants the opportunity to share, discuss, and receive feedback on their experiences applying these concepts with their programs during the interim.

After attending this session, participants should be able to:

    1. Analyze plans for designing and measuring the impact of various virtual learning programs.
    2. Refine plans for ensuring virtual learning delivers business value.

These two sessions primarily address the Talent Development Capability Model area Developing Professional Capability - Evaluating Impact domain.

Handouts: Each participant will receive tools, template, case studies, job aids, and a chapter from the book: Measuring the Success of Learning Through Technology.

    Target Audience: Beginner
