When you're a teacher looking to make a career transition out of the classroom and into a corporate eLearning or instructional design job, it can be a bit of an uphill battle. And while much of what you do as a teacher isn't all that different from the role of an eLearning or instructional designer, it can feel like the odds are stacked against you. Not only are the hiring practices completely different, but the jargon used in many job descriptions can sound downright foreign.

In this session, you explore how you can best position yourself to successfully transition out of the classroom and into a corporate eLearning or instructional design job. We'll start by looking at how to translate your experience in a way that resonates with corporate hiring managers. From there, we'll discuss how to build the tangible skills hiring managers are seeking. And finally, we'll explore how to showcase your skills by creating an online portfolio.

After attending this session, you'll be able to...

  • Translate your teaching skills in a way that resonates with corporate hiring managers.
  • Identify methods for growing the most in-demand skills.
  • Determine the steps for building your online portfolio.
