“Connecting the Dots Through Story: How to Find and Develop Stories to Make Your Training Stick”

As a trainer, you know that stories connect you and your content to your learners.  You know that stories can create legends, inspire action, and change the way people think, act and feel.  You even have your three favorite stories that you tell all the time.  But in this ever-changing landscape, you need new stories to keep your material relevant.  How can you develop more stories?  How do you craft those stories so that they connect with your learners and your content?  During this session, you’ll create your own story file, learn techniques for molding stories for greater impact, and walk away with a tool to help you create and find more stories in the future.  Stories help connect the dots between training goals and learners.  So get out your markers and get ready to connect the dots.

About the Presenter.  In an attention-deficient, entertain-me-now, wait-while-I-post-that-on-my-Facebook-page kind of world, the typical business presentation is lame.  Professional speaker, trainer, coach, tweeter and blogger Kelly Vandever is on a mission to eliminate boring business presentations from the face of the earth.  Kelly helps organizations crank up their content and create killer audience interaction using old school and hi-tech techniques, all while annihilating bullet points and making this a better world for business audiences everywhere.

An award winning speaker herself, Kelly was also named top speech coach in the state of Georgia.  Kelly has served on the boards of the local chapters of both the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and of the National Speakers Association (NSA) and has delivered speeches or training to The Home Depot, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, Computer Troubleshooters Global, Xaar International, GamesThatWork, PointClear Solutions, Florida Head Start Association, Region IV Head Start Association, Chick-Fil-A, Thompson Technologies, National Pharmaceutical SAS Users Group, Educators Advancement Group and more.  Her coaching clients have included CEOs, executives, scientists, trainers, sales professionals, entrepreneurs, ministers, and corporate leaders.  Kelly also taught public speaking as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University.  Find out more about Kelly at http://SpeakingPractically.com or tweet her @KellyVandever.
