The Listening Edge - Being Aware of Your Listening Intelligence
"Rarely Do We Listen with Real Understanding, True Empathy. Yet Listening, of The Very Special Kind, is One of The Most Potent Forces For Change."
PRE-WORK IS REQUIRED FOR THIS SESSION - SHORT ASSESSMENT!
Listening is recognized as essential to successful communication. Good information drives good decisions. Excellent listening skills are more vitally important today than ever. Unfortunately listening tends to be the neglected communication skill. Listening mistakes and misconceptions create negative financial impact on your business every day. Until now, businesses have had to live with this problem. No scalable, effective solution has been available.
On August 18th …Dana Dupuis, Executive Director of Research & Development, Listening Science from Mandel Communications will be sharing a new neuroscience-based approach that will create immediate observable results in our listening. Listening is a cognitive function and since no to brains are the same, no two individuals listen the same. The Mandel methodology to listening allows us to recognize what we listen “to” and “for” and what we tend to ignore. In addition, it helps us adapt how we communicate with others. This is a breakthrough approach to understanding and developing 50% of how we communicate.
There will be LABS offered on Wednesday 8/19 and/or Thursday 8/20 for more hands on interaction into your personal profile.

About Your Facilitator: Dana Dupuis
Dana brings a wealth of expertise in leadership development and communication to Mandel’s executive team. She has spent her career exploring corporate communication and interpersonal collaboration to understand their effects on organizational well -being.
Early in her career, Dana began to see listening as an essential component of healthy corporate communication. She also realized it was largely missing as a basic leadership skillset. In 2008, she was ntroduced to a listening assessment being developed to define individual listening profiles, revealing what people listen for and what they ignore.
Fascinated by the concept, Dana and her team pursued their own intensive research into the science of listening. They partnered with neuroscientists, clinical psychologists, and communication professionals to define Listening Intelligence. This research established an innovative way to harness the power of listening. It confirmed that listening happens in the brain and, since no two brains are alike, that each individual listens differently.
Over the next eight years, Dana and her team continued developing a cognitive-based listening assessment, which is both scientifically grounded and statistically reliable. It measures how individuals and intact teams listen to, filter, and interpret what they hear and how it effects their communication with those around them.
The assessment educates leaders and teams in diagnosing the listening styles and corresponding behaviors of prospective clients, individual employees, and future hires. Understanding these measures allows companies to proactively coach employees toward more effective communication. The assessment has broad application and has been successful in developing sales teams, improving management decision-making, and accelerating cultural onboarding.
Dana is a renowned speaker, presenter, and consultant. As a key member of Mandel’s executive team, she provides ongoing research into how listening serves management and leadership development. Dana is a member of The International Listening Association, where she speaks annually and has had the validity portfolio on the listening assessment published.
Recently Dana’s work has been adopted by companies such as PwC, ServiceNOW, Northwestern Mutual, Genworth, and Adobe.
