Chris Rogers and Mike Law of Home Depot Speaking on Technology-based Learning

 

With so many simulation development tools on the market, which one is right for your needs? Join us as we explore not only widely-used tools as well as new tools that cause a difference in training and development but also the best practices needed to truly create relevant simulations that increase the competency of learners.

 


About the Speakers:                                            

Mike Law, Senior Manager of Learning Development, The Home Depot

Mike has been with The Home Depot for nearly 14 years and during that time, he has overseen drastic improvements in the technology and business impact of their e-learning products. His team won the Gold Medal Award for Custom

Content in Brandon Hall’s Excellence in

E-Learning program in 2001, 2002, and 2004. Mike has also served as an Assistant Part-Time Professor for the University of Georgia’s Dept. of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology program in which he facilitated classes in Instructional Design, Learning Theories and Applications, and Instructional Technology. His degrees from UGA include: ABJ, Journalism; MEd, Computer-Based Education; and PhD, Instructional Technology. Mike is currently pursuing his CPLP.


Chris Rogers, Instructional Designer, The Home Depot

Chris has been with The Home Depot for a year and prior to that served in the capacity of instructional designer at Infinity Insurance, Georgia-Pacific, Turner, and Aaron’s. He introduced some of these companies to technologies that transformed their learning delivery such as rapid development tools and social networks for learning communities. Chris’ background prior to the learning profession was in IT. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Clemson University. Chris earned his CTT+ certification and is currently pursuing ASTD’s CPLP.

When Do We Meet?

We make every effort to engage our members and the community at-large by meeting for Lunch on the  first Tuesday of the month from 11:30 am to 1 pm during the odd months of the year. 

We gather in the Evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the first Thursday during the even months.   Please see the Events Calendar for dates of upcoming events.

First Tuesday Luncheons /odd months of the year:  July 3; Sept. 4 and Nov. 6  (White Bluff campus)
