Topic

Trends in Learning & Development:
                Simulation & Virtual Technology

Advancements in technology increasingly allow us to close the gap between the classroom experience and real-world application of new skills and knowledge. Healthcare is a primary example where high-fidelity training simulations allow learning professionals to measure more than just recall. The same is true for gauging learning and development needs. Assessing skills and capabilities should closely tie to ways in which the individual would use them in the real world. Travis Barton, a Leadership and Organization Performance Consultant with Mercer, will share insights on how a variety of technologies are changing the landscape of learning and development.

Presenter:

Travis Barton is a Senior Associate with Mercer. She helps organizations manage their workforce talent and Human Resources function to optimize value and performance. Travis has more than 10 years of Human Capital experience with a wide range of issues including leadership assessment and development, workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, and organization design. In addition, she serves as Mercer’s Global Product Manager for two of its leadership assessment tools – 360 Degree Feedback and TalentSim.

Travis works with both global and domestic clients. Those with multi-national reach include Agbar, CNH, Global Payments, ITT-Koni, Lyondell-Basell, Orica, and Samsung Telecommunication. Other clients in North America include AT&T, Education Management Corporation, Kforce, Scripps, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Supervalu.

Before joining Mercer, Travis held a variety of internal HR positions in Talent Development, Compensation and Employee Communications & Change Management. Travis holds a BA from Davidson College and an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology. She has a Senior Professional Human Resources certification and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
