47 Tips and Best Kept Secrets for Designing Level 1-4 Evaluations

No matter how well you design and deliver learning within your organization, you are probably experiencing increased demands to demonstrate how your learning programs impact business results. Unfortunately, many learning and development professionals struggle with this because they are simply uninformed in the art and science of evaluation design.  This in-depth, one-day workshop provides practical tips and specific guidelines for creating valid, scientifically sound Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 evaluations that produce data with high-perceived value.  These tips and guidelines are based on current education and behavioral science research findings in survey design methodology and replace concepts developed more than 50 years ago and long since outdated.

Participant Learning and Deliverables:  In this comprehensive workshop, participants will:

  • Examine the Kirkpatrick/Phillips 5 level evaluation model and how to use the model to build a “chain of evidence” demonstrating program value.
  • Discover 12 tips for creating Level 1 evaluations that produce valued data and can be used to predict participant learning, intent to apply what was learned back on the job, and likely impact on Business results.
  • Discover 15 tips for creating valid, scientifically sound Level 2 multiple-choice test questions that assess job application  and not just recall.
  • Discover 12 tips for creating scientifically sound Level 3 participant surveys that measure on-the-job behavior change.·
  • Examine a two-phase eight-guideline process for conducting Level 4 evaluations that connect a learning program with business results.
