Music is used in film and television to set the mood, convey emotions and provide transition cues. Many elearning designers and developers avoid using music for many reasons: perceived cost, lack of musical skills, possible copyright issues or no recording space. Digital music production software allows the developer to create music easily via looping or playing virtual instruments.
This session will demonstrate building loop-based music to enhance the program's soundtrack through creating background tracks and transitional music. This session will focus on Apple's Garageband primarily as the basics of loop-based music production. Free or low cost Windows applications will be discussed.
Topics of discussion to include:
· How to place loops to build a music track
· How to create music with virtual instruments
· How to edit MIDI audio
· How to output your music mix
· Where to get inspiration, free loops and resources
