    Position: Instructional Design - Contractor

    Level: Mid-Level

    Role Summary
    This contract Instructional Design role is an opportunity for a talent development professional with proven ID experience to work with trusted clients on the design and development of training and performance support materials that are the result of a carefully constructed learning strategy, focused on driving business results. Clients may range greatly both in industry (healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, telecom) and sector (private, public, non-profit), so our contractors are constantly learning and growing. Typical assignments range from 60 days to 1+ years, and pay can vary greatly depending upon experience, client budget, and the required skillset, and can range anywhere between $30-$80+ per hour as a 1099 contractor.

    Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
    • Strong writing, communication, and customer service skills
    • Flexible, with a high tolerance for ambiguity
    • Set personal milestones and meet them consistently
    • Read maps, interpret visual diagrams and create tables and partner to develop infographics and process documents
    • Work closely with both project sponsors and subject matter experts to clarify business goals and learning objectives, conduct needs analysis toward production of a training scope document
    • Transform a scope document into a design document that provides a detailed description of proposed learning activities and interactions
    • Work independently and in conjunction with other designers and developers to create training deliverables, including evaluations and project summary documents with lessons learned

    Required Skills and Qualifications
    • 3+ years of experience as an instructional designer or technical writer
    • Bachelor or Graduate degree in Learning Technologies, Communications, Education, English, Human Resources or related field of study
    • Mastery of industry ID models and rapid design techniques
    • Demonstrated ability to write clear behavioral learning objectives that drive business results
    • Demonstrated ability to work with busy subject matter experts and project sponsors that have competing priorities, to move a project forward
    • Demonstrated ability to work alone to explore resource materials and research technical answers
    • Demonstrated ability to function as a team player, able to both seek input and receive feedback from others to make a stronger project deliverable
    • Demonstrated ability to serve compassionately, communicate concisely, and solve problems creatively

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications
    • Development experience using a time-line based development tool such as Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia or similar (must have a sample project to share for each tool listed)
    • Experience in three or more of the following industries: Aerospace, Financial Services, Healthcare, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Retail, Telecommunications
    • Volunteer experience with a non-profit organization
    • Experience in the performing arts (music, theater, etc.)
    • Experience in graphic design or visual art
    • Experience with film, video, or TV productions
    • Experience in sales, customer service, finance, technology, and/or project management
